Famous American rapper and fashion entrepreneur Kanye West has again publicly apologized for his past anti-Semitic statements, attributing his behavior to a previously undiagnosed brain injury.
The apology, titled “To Those I Have Hurt,” was published on Monday in the print edition of The Wall Street Journal. The statement was signed by West and noted as a paid publication sponsored by his brand, Yeezy, according to the Daily Mail.
In the message, West disclosed that he suffered an injury to the right frontal lobe of his brain following a car accident nearly 25 years ago. He said the injury went undiagnosed for years due to limited neurological examinations at the time.
“Twenty-five years ago, I was in a car accident that broke my jaw and caused injury to the right frontal lobe of my brain,” West wrote. “No comprehensive scans were done then, and the possibility of frontal-lobe injury was never raised. It was properly diagnosed in 2023.”
He added that the medical oversight severely affected his mental health and contributed to his diagnosis of bipolar disorder type-1.
DAILY POST reports that the renewed apology comes almost three years after Jewish advocacy group StopAntisemitism rejected West’s initial apology over similar remarks.
West’s controversial comments in recent years have drawn widespread condemnation and led to the loss of several major business partnerships, placing his public image and career under intense scrutiny.
