Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, has claimed that neither the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, nor Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has the political strength to secure Rivers State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election without electoral manipulation.
Fayose made the assertion in a video shared on his Facebook page on Saturday, where he weighed in on the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.
According to him, both Wike and Fubara lack the grassroots support necessary to win the state for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a free and fair election.
“Make we no deceive ourselves. Both Wike and Fubara, none of them can win Rivers election for APC or Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 without rigging. The only person that can win Rivers State for Tinubu is INEC and the Police, not Fubara and not Wike,” Fayose said.
He further alleged that the lingering feud between the former governor and his successor has little to do with the interest of Rivers residents, but is instead driven by a struggle for control of the state’s financial resources.
Fayose claimed that Governor Fubara had built up substantial savings for the state, which he alleged was a major trigger for the rift between the two political heavyweights.
The political commentator also argued that the potential re-emergence of the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on the ballot in 2027 would significantly weaken the APC’s chances in Rivers State.
He dismissed recent political tours and outreach efforts by both camps, describing them as ineffective and incapable of translating into meaningful voter support at the polls.
The comments come amid heightened political tensions in Rivers State, with observers closely watching how the power struggle between Wike and Fubara may shape the state’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
