Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Pantami, has categorically denied reports claiming he is set to marry former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, describing the rumour as false, baseless and completely impossible.
The speculation gained momentum on social media following the circulation of a purported wedding invitation card suggesting that Pantami and the widow of late former President Muhammadu Buhari were preparing to wed. However, the card contained no wedding date or any verifiable details to support the claim.
Reacting to the development in an interview with PRNigeria, Pantami said he was shocked by the rumour, stressing that the late President Buhari was a father figure to him, while Aisha Buhari is regarded as a mother.
“Aisha Buhari is a mother to us. It is disturbing that such a story could be fabricated,” Pantami said.
“President Buhari was like a father to us, and his wife is regarded as a mother. Such a claim is not only false but impossible.”
Pantami urged the public to disregard the report and cautioned against the growing spread of misinformation on social media platforms, noting that false narratives can cause unnecessary distress and damage reputations.
He called on media users to verify information before sharing, emphasizing the need for responsible communication in the digital space.
