Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, says he will implement a strictly balanced cabinet made up of an equal number of men and women if elected Nigeria’s president.
Speaking at an event in Port Harcourt earlier in the week, Amaechi revealed that his administration would feature 21 female ministers and 21 male ministers — a move he believes will demonstrate that competence is not tied to gender.
According to him, the arrangement is designed to foster healthy competition and showcase performance based solely on merit.
He added that young Nigerians would enjoy the highest share of appointments.
Amaechi said:
“If I become the President of Nigeria — and I’m going to contest — I will split the cabinet into equal parts. There will be 21 male and 21 female ministers. I want to prove that gender is not the basis for performance. Let’s see who does better, and I will show Nigerians the results.”
He further explained that out of the 21 ministers in each category, “10 or 11 will go to the youths,” while the remaining slots will be filled by women and men aged 40 to 60.
According to DAILY POST, Amaechi is gearing up to run for president under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
