2027: Dele Momodu Says Opposition ‘Not Ready’ to Take On Tinubu

0

Former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has declared that Nigeria’s opposition is not yet prepared to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Momodu, in a post shared on his verified X account on Tuesday, questioned how opposition presidential hopefuls expect to defeat the incumbent when they have failed to unite or craft a coherent strategy ahead of the polls.

The media mogul and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) argued that only former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has the political structure, experience, and seriousness needed to mount a credible challenge in 2027.

“I often wonder how some opposition presidential aspirants can think of knocking out President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 when they have not even come together to agree on a common strategy,” Momodu wrote. “Let me emphasize that contesting for the highest office in any country is no child’s play. The only opposition leader who seems to understand what it takes to be competitive is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.”

His remarks add to the ongoing debate about the opposition’s readiness and whether key figures can unite to form a formidable front ahead of the next general election.
