Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State is currently in a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Kefas arrived at the State House on Monday in the company of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, before proceeding straight to the private session with the President.
This marks the governor’s first visit to President Tinubu since his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
The governor was initially scheduled to be formally welcomed into the ruling party on November 19 but postponed the event, describing it as insensitive to hold a political rally while Kebbi State grappled with the abduction of schoolgirls in Maga.
His defection came just days after the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly and 15 lawmakers also dumped the PDP for the APC, citing the need to align with the Federal Government and the deepening crisis within the opposition party at the national level.
As of the time of filing this report, details of the ongoing meeting have not been made public.
