Court Finds Nnamdi Kanu Guilty on All Terrorism Charges

0

A Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on all seven counts of terrorism brought against him by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Delivering the judgment on Monday, Justice James Omotosho ruled that the prosecution had presented credible and sufficient evidence to establish its case. He described Kanu as a “false defender of the South-East,” stating that his actions had contributed to widespread violence in the region.

According to the judge, the court had “no reason to doubt” the prosecution’s submissions, especially since Kanu chose not to enter his own defence but instead relied on the prosecution’s evidence as his strategy.

Justice Omotosho further declared Kanu to be an international terrorist, adding that he must be treated accordingly “without fear or favour.”

The judgment is still being read at the time of this report.
