Activist Aisha Yesufu has urged Nigerians to closely monitor the electoral process, particularly the counting, recording and movement of result sheets, warning that the technology used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) cannot be solely relied upon during elections.
Yesufu made the call in a statement shared on X, urging citizens to remain vigilant from the polling units through the various stages of result collation up to the national collation centre in Abuja.
“The technology of INEC cannot be trusted! We will consider everything manual and analogue,” she said.
She urged voters and election observers to pay close attention to the counting of votes and the recording of results at polling units on election day.
“We must watch eagle eyed the counting of our votes on the Election Day. Watch like hawks as they write the results,” Yesufu said.
The activist also called on Nigerians to monitor result sheets as they are transferred from polling units to ward, local government and state collation centres, and eventually to Abuja.
“Follow our result sheets from polling unit to ward, LG, State collation centres and finally to Abuja,” she said.
According to Yesufu, election officials and result sheets should remain under close observation throughout the entire collation process.
“In all of these no single official or result sheets must be out of our sights,” she said.
She added that Nigerians should remain vigilant regardless of the location, saying, “From the creeks to the deserts we will follow.”
Yesufu said the ultimate objective should be to ensure that the results announced by electoral authorities accurately reflect the votes cast by Nigerians.
“At the end we will all gather in Abuja and ensure that what the people voted is what is announced,” she said.
