APC Blasts PDP Factional Chairman Turaki Over Call for Foreign Intervention

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has sharply criticised Tanimu Turaki, the newly-declared factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for urging foreign powers to intervene in Nigeria over rising insecurity.

APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, issued the condemnation in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, describing Turaki’s comments as “reckless, unpatriotic, and dangerous.”

Turaki, while addressing journalists on the deepening crisis within the PDP, had accused the government of allowing what he termed a “Christian genocide,” urging the international community to step in to protect Nigeria’s democracy.

Morka said Turaki’s remarks were irresponsible, especially coming just days after being declared chairman by one of the factions battling for control of the troubled opposition party.

“For someone proclaimed national chairman barely 72 hours ago, Turaki sounded desperate and confused,” Morka said. “Rather than seeking reconciliation within his fractured party, his first major act was to call for foreign invasion of Nigeria.”

The APC spokesperson warned that the call posed a direct threat to national security and sovereignty, describing it as a “disgraceful attempt to mask the PDP’s internal collapse.”

He added that even during PDP’s 16 years in power—despite its shortcomings—no party leader ever sought foreign intervention to resolve internal disputes.

“Turaki’s declaration is a confession of the PDP’s inability to manage its own contradictions. It should be seen as the final proof of the party’s disintegration,” Morka stated.

He urged the international community to ignore the appeal, insisting it was merely a distraction from the PDP’s leadership crisis.

Morka also called on Nigerians to rally behind the APC and President Bola Tinubu, whom he said remained committed to steering the country toward stability and prosperity.
