Chaos in the Sky: VeryDarkMan, Mr Jollof Trade Blows on Asaba–Lagos Flight, Spark Online Outrage

A United Nigeria Airlines flight from Asaba to Lagos descended into chaos on Monday after a physical altercation broke out between popular social media personality Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), and comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, popularly called Mr Jollof.

A viral video captured the moment the two celebrities exchanged punches onboard, forcing fellow passengers to intervene as the scuffle disrupted the flight. Cabin crew eventually deboarded both men and handed them over to airport security for questioning.

Shortly after the incident, VDM took to Facebook to confirm the clash, bragging that he had “dealt with” the comedian. In a follow-up clip, he displayed bite marks on his chest, alleging that Mr Jollof bit him during the fight.

“He bite me… man wey dey bite, he no shame,” VDM said, claiming the comedian’s attack damaged his chest tattoo.

The brawl quickly dominated social media conversations, reigniting interest in their long-standing online rivalry. While many Nigerians condemned their behaviour, others defended their preferred celebrity.

One user, @amagracie, wrote: “Two overgrown shameless adults. As long as they are not related to me, may the most shameless win the fight.”

Another user, @afrimoda_fabrics, added: “Wow, this is so embarrassing… watch their supporters come defend this big embarrassment.”

Some commenters urged aviation authorities to sanction both men, while others described the scene as a disgraceful display for public figures.

“NCAA suppose ban both parties,” @nacamoto_556 posted.

Others saw humour in the incident, with some calling for a “rematch” and predicting “better odds” if the fight were ever staged again.

Meanwhile, aviation authorities are reportedly seeking full details of the altercation as investigations continue.
