Navy Officer Yerima Reportedly Evades Suspicious Pursuit in Abuja

0

Lieutenant A.M. Yerima, the Nigerian Navy officer recently involved in a heated confrontation with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, reportedly escaped an attempted trailing by unidentified individuals in Abuja on Thursday night.

Sources say two unmarked Hilux vans without number plates began following the officer from the NIPCO Filling Station along the Kubwa Expressway and continued the pursuit toward Gado Nasco Way. Sensing danger, Yerima was said to have executed calculated driving maneuvers that enabled him to evade the vehicles.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. and has since been taken up by security authorities. A source familiar with the matter confirmed that an investigation is underway but declined to share further details, citing the sensitivity of the case.

Yerima has been in the public eye after a confrontation with FCT Minister Wike over a land-related dispute in the Gaduwa area of Abuja. The development has sparked intense public reactions and debates.

Meanwhile, the Presidency has reportedly stepped in, leading FCT officials to pull back demolition equipment earlier deployed to the contested land in Gaduwa District.

Investigations into the latest incident are ongoing.
