PDP Chieftain Sani Adamu Yarin Fika Dumps Party for APC

A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State, Alhaji Sani Adamu Yarin Fika, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that the opposition is “dead” in the state.

His defection was announced in a statement issued by the Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to Governor Mai Mala Buni, Mamman Mohammed, and made available to journalists on Thursday.

According to the statement, Adamu formally joined the APC at a ceremony held in Damaturu, where he commended Governor Buni’s developmental strides across Yobe State as his reason for switching allegiance.

“I was attracted into the APC by Governor Buni’s commitment to developing the state. I want you to mark my words — PDP and any other form of opposition in Yobe State is dead,” Adamu declared.

The former PDP stalwart also announced that his loyalists from the Zone B senatorial district had joined him in defecting to the APC, pledging to contribute to the governor’s vision of progress and unity.

In his remarks, the Yobe State APC Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, described Adamu’s defection as a “big catch” for the ruling party, assuring the new members of full integration and equal opportunity within the party structure.

“We value this defection. We will support you and give you a sense of belonging, with access to the same opportunities enjoyed by all members of the APC,” Gadaka stated.

Governor Buni, while welcoming Adamu and his supporters, expressed delight over their decision, noting that their entry into the APC would further strengthen the party’s base and enhance its electoral prospects in Potiskum, Zone B, and the entire state.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and promised to continue delivering projects that impact the lives of all Yobe residents, regardless of political background.
