US hip-hop icon Sean “Diddy” Combs has been transferred to a low-security federal prison in New Jersey to serve his four-year, two-month sentence following his conviction on prostitution-related charges.
According to federal prison records released on Friday, the 54-year-old music mogul is now being held at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution, located about 130 kilometers (80 miles) south of New York City. The facility is known for its drug treatment and rehabilitation programs.
Combs’ legal team had requested that he be moved to the New Jersey prison, where he is expected to remain until May 8, 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
The rap entrepreneur was arrested in September 2024 and later convicted in July on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. However, he was acquitted of more serious charges including sex trafficking and racketeering.
Before sentencing, Combs tearfully addressed the court, expressing deep remorse.
“I am truly sorry for my actions,” he said, describing his past behavior as “disgusting, shameful, and sick.”
He also apologized to his family and victims, acknowledging the pain he caused.
The court noted that his sentence reflects the time he has already spent in custody at a Brooklyn detention facility.
Meanwhile, Combs’ attorneys have filed appeals challenging both his conviction and sentence, maintaining that he was unfairly targeted because of his celebrity status.
