Wike: If Past Leaders Took Tinubu’s Bold Steps, Nigeria Would Be Better Today

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said Nigeria would be in a far better state if previous administrations had made the kind of courageous decisions President Bola Tinubu is making today.

Wike made the remark at the flag-off ceremony for the construction of Collector Road C01 in the Institution and Research District, linking the Body of Benchers to the Nile University area, which includes a bridge project.

According to him, President Tinubu never promised to fix all of Nigeria’s challenges overnight but to set the nation on a path of genuine, long-term progress.

“So what is happening today — Mr. President has never said he’s going to solve the entire problems of Nigeria,” Wike stated. “But he’s going to put Nigeria on the path of positive development. When he finishes, another person will come and continue from there. If the bold decisions Mr. President took were taken before, by now we wouldn’t have been here. That’s what we’re talking about. It’s not that you can do everything.”

The FCT Minister also revealed plans to inaugurate new projects at the Nigerian Law School next week.

“I’m happy contributing and supporting the legal profession and the agencies within it. On Monday, we’ll be at the Nigerian Law School to flag off the construction of hostels for 300 female and 300 male students — a development that has never happened before,” Wike announced.
