The Federal Government has announced the official theme for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary celebrations: “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”
In a statement signed by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), the theme highlights the importance of unity, collaboration, and patriotism across government, private sector, civil society, and the general public in building a nation defined by peace, prosperity, and progress.
“Since Independence in 1960, Nigeria has weathered challenges and achieved significant strides in various economic sectors. It is now imperative for citizens to consolidate on these gains while striving toward greater national objectives,” the statement noted.
The OSGF added that all government activities and programmes will align with the official theme to ensure it resonates across the country in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Unveiling the calendar of events, the government announced that the anniversary activities will begin with a Juma’at prayer on Friday, September 26, at 1:00 p.m., followed by an inter-denominational church service on Sunday, September 28, at 10:00 a.m.
These will precede a World Press Conference scheduled for Monday, September 29, at 10:00 a.m., ahead of the grand celebrations on October 1, 2025, when Nigeria will mark 65 years of independence.
