ABUJA — Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, says his meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa was to officially inform him of his return to office following the lifting of his suspension.
The governor, who was recently reinstated after six months of emergency rule in the state, visited the State House on Monday evening for a closed-door meeting with the president.
Speaking with journalists afterwards, Fubara described the engagement as a “father-and-son discussion” centered on peace and stability in Rivers State.
“You are aware that the suspension was lifted midnight, 17th, and I resumed on the 19th. I’m here to tell Mr President that I’m back and have also resumed my responsibility as Governor of Rivers State,” Fubara said.
He added that he also sought the president’s guidance to avoid a repeat of the political turbulence that rocked the state.
“It was a father and son discussion, telling him thank you and the areas he should guide me properly, so we don’t have a crisis again,” he explained.
