ABUJA — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognized former Senate President, Senator David Bonaventure Mark, as the new National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The confirmation came on Wednesday following an update to the party’s particulars on INEC’s official website, effectively putting to rest months of leadership tussle within the opposition party.
According to the commission, the newly recognized National Working Committee (NWC) of the ADC will be led by Sen. Mark as National Chairman, while former Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, takes the position of National Secretary.
Other key members of the new leadership include Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad as National Treasurer, Akibu Dalhatu as National Financial Secretary, and former Edo State governor, Prof. Oserheimen Aigberaodion Osunbor, as National Legal Adviser.
Stakeholders say the development signals a major step toward stabilizing the ADC and repositioning it as a strong opposition force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
