ABUJA — Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has dismissed speculations about former President Goodluck Jonathan making a political comeback in the 2027 presidential election.
In recent weeks, there have been growing reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is mounting pressure on Jonathan to contest against President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Jonathan’s silence on the matter has further fueled speculation that he may throw his hat into the ring.
But Adeyanju, in a post shared on his Facebook page on Monday, stated categorically that Jonathan has no interest in returning to the presidency.
“GEJ is not interested in running for president in 2027. That chapter is closed. Anything you hear about GEJ is a distraction,” he wrote.
With Adeyanju’s clarification, the long-running rumours about Jonathan’s possible comeback appear to have been put to rest — at least for now.
