Iyabo Ojo Fires Back at Verydarkman Over Apology Claims in Mohbad Case

Nollywood actress and activist, Iyabo Ojo, has strongly refuted claims by controversial social media personality, Verydarkman, alleging that she reneged on an agreement to publicly apologise to embattled music figures Naira Marley and Sam Larry.

Verydarkman had, in a recent video, asserted that a resolution was reached during a meeting at the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NCCC), where Iyabo Ojo, fellow actress Tonto Dikeh, Naira Marley, and Sam Larry were present with their legal teams. According to him, part of the agreement was for Iyabo Ojo to retract her earlier public statements and apologise to both men over allegations linked to the death of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

In a swift and firm response, Iyabo Ojo dismissed the claims as false, describing Verydarkman as “manipulative, cunning, and deceitful.” She accused him of distorting facts to serve his narrative and questioned his credibility.

“I saw your video, and I know why you made those videos,” Ojo said in a video shared on her verified social media pages. “I’m sure the NCCC has called to tell you that I’ve filed a petition against you, so you’re trying to twist the story with your usual tactics.”

Clarifying her position, the mother of two reiterated that her outspokenness following Mohbad’s death was driven by what she described as “genuine concern and credible evidence.” She cited viral videos that showed Sam Larry allegedly harassing Mohbad and rapper Zlatan Ibile, and others where Naira Marley was seen dancing shortly after the singer’s passing—footage she said reinforced the bullying allegations.

“I’ve never met Naira Marley personally; I only promoted his music on my platform. But after seeing those videos and reading online reports following Mohbad’s death, I had every reason to speak out as a mother and a concerned citizen,” she stated.

Iyabo Ojo also clarified that her invitation to the NCCC came just as she was preparing to travel to Tanzania for her daughter Priscilla’s wedding and that her participation in the police meeting did not involve any apology arrangement.

“I am a very wise woman. I know when to fight, when to listen, and when to speak—unlike you, who speaks from both sides of the mouth. People should stop taking you seriously,” she said, addressing Verydarkman directly.

The actress’s reaction has since sparked widespread discussions online, as the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s tragic death continues to stir public emotions and demand for justice.
