2027: Rivers Youths Take to Streets, Campaign Against Tinubu, APC
Some youths in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, have taken to the streets to sensitise residents against voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
In a 45-second video sighted on X, the youths were seen moving through parts of the city while urging residents to reject the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the polls.
The youths accused the Tinubu administration of worsening the economic hardship facing Nigerians, alleging that the government’s policies had failed to address the country’s lingering economic challenges.
“You get food for house? No. You get light for house? No. Hunger dey. Tinubu brought hunger through bad government,” they chanted.
The street campaign comes amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, with political parties and groups intensifying efforts to mobilise voters across the country.
However, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, recently declared that there would be no opposition in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Wike had maintained that eligible voters in the state were united behind the decision to support the re-election of President Tinubu.
The former governor is also backed by a coalition comprising members of different political parties who have come together to support candidates aligned with his political position ahead of the 2027 polls.
The latest street mobilisation in Port Harcourt, however, suggests that opposition voices remain active in the state as political activities gather momentum ahead of the elections.
