Bashir Ahmad, National Director of Media Monitoring and Rapid Response for the City Boys Movement, has disagreed with Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate Rabi’u Kwankwaso over his position on the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.
In a post on his verified X handle late Sunday, Ahmad said Nigerians have every right to scrutinise the government and demand better governance.
However, he argued that reducing the 2027 presidential contest to a simple battle between “oppressors and the oppressed” would do little to promote meaningful national debate.
According to the former presidential aide, the APC Presidential Campaign Council should be assessed based on the policies, programmes and vision it presents to Nigerians, rather than solely on the political identities of those serving on the council.
Ahmad stressed that the 2027 election should focus on competing ideas, records, competence and clear visions for Nigeria’s future.
He urged Nigerians to assess political parties and candidates based on what they can offer the country rather than relying on simplistic political narratives.
