The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is listening to Nigerians, caring for them and taking steps to address their challenges.
Wike made the remarks on Thursday while inspecting ongoing road projects in the FCT, including the Apo-Karshi and Bwari-Kubwa roads.
The minister said good governance remains the most reliable measure of a government’s success, arguing that the Tinubu administration’s infrastructure projects demonstrate its commitment to improving the lives of residents.
According to Wike, the government has moved beyond making promises and is delivering projects that directly affect communities.
“Now, the Tinubu administration has come and it’s not only listening to you, it’s not only caring for you, it’s solving your problems. Why will they want to change their mind?” he said.
Wike also expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure re-election in the 2027 presidential election, dismissing what he described as opposition rhetoric.
He said the administration would campaign based on its record and verifiable achievements rather than promises.
“This is the campaign. The people who will come, what will they come with? They will tell them stories. But we have not come with stories, we have come with facts, verifiable facts,” Wike said.
He added that he had no doubt about Tinubu’s prospects in the 2027 election.
The FCT minister further said the Renewed Hope Agenda had changed the approach to infrastructure development in the capital, with greater attention now being given to satellite towns and communities outside the city centre.
“The Renewed Hope administration has redefined infrastructure delivery as far as FCT is concerned, not just within the city, but also within the satellite towns,” Wike said.
He expressed appreciation to Tinubu for supporting the expansion of infrastructure projects across the FCT, saying development should not be concentrated only in the city centre but should also extend to satellite communities.
