United States President Donald Trump has dismissed reports claiming the country is experiencing a shortage of munitions after months of military operations involving Iran, insisting that America’s weapons stockpiles remain robust.
In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform on Thursday, Trump said the United States possesses “massive amounts” of munitions, adding that fresh supplies are continuously being produced and delivered whenever needed.
“The U.S. has massive amounts of ‘munitions,’ especially of certain types. Additionally, large amounts are being manufactured and shipped to the U.S. as needed,” Trump wrote.
The president also said the country’s defence industry is rapidly expanding production, claiming that manufacturers are constructing the largest number of defence plants and factories in American history to strengthen military capacity.
Responding to reports suggesting that US stockpiles of key munitions had been significantly depleted following months of operations linked to the conflict with Iran, Trump described the claims as false and accused those responsible for leaking the information of committing a serious offence.
He warned that authorities were actively pursuing the individuals behind the alleged leaks and vowed to seek severe legal penalties against them.
“The ‘leakers’ of these treasonous statements are being hunted down. Long-term jail sentences will be sought!” Trump stated.
Trump’s remarks came amid media reports alleging that the United States had seen a significant reduction in its inventory of certain critical munitions following prolonged military operations connected to the Iran conflict. His administration, however, maintains that the country’s arsenal remains well-stocked and that production continues to meet operational requirements.
