The Super Falcons of Nigeria defeated Ethiopia 4-0 (5-1 overall) to move on to the third round of qualification for the Olympic Women’s Football Tournament in Paris, France, in 2024.

The Atletico Madrid star, Rasheedat Ajibade, scored a fantastic long-range goal last Wednesday to help his team, the Super Falcons of Nigeria, escape a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their 2024 Olympic qualifying match in Ethiopia.

Late in the first half, attacker Uchenna Kanu of Nigeria gave his team the lead by coolly slotting the ball past the Ethiopian goalie.

Ajibade carried on her scoring streak of goals. Following a feed from Asisat Oshoala, the Atletico Madrid Femeni forward scored from close range to give the Falcons a commanding 2-0 lead.

In the 68th minute, Asisat Oshola scored Nigeria’s third goal of the match. The Uchenna Kanu cross was brilliantly headed in by the Barcelona Femeni attacker.

Ajibade scored her second goal of the match four minutes later. She had earlier set up Ajibade’s second goal with a simple ball for Oshoala, who slipped past the Ethiopian defence from the right wing.

Nigeria will be waiting for the winner of Uganda vs Cameroon in the third qualifying round. The dates of the third qualifying round are scheduled for February 9–28, 2024.
