The Executive Director of Projects Implementation at the Federal Housing Authority, Remi Omowaiye, has accused Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of fueling the ongoing political crisis in the state.
Omowaiye alleged that the governor orchestrated recent violent clashes, which led to the deaths of at least eight people in Osun on Monday. The unrest erupted after elected All Progressives Congress (APC) local government officials resumed duties at council secretariats, sparking a confrontation with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters.
Speaking on Arise TV on Wednesday, Omowaiye recounted a near-fatal attack, stating that his security adviser and driver were shot, and his vehicle was riddled with bullets.
“It is unfortunate that Governor Adeleke wants to burn down Osun State,” he said, emphasizing that a court ruling had permitted APC officials to reclaim their offices.
Omowaiye narrated that upon noticing an unusual presence of suspected PDP hoodlums in Ilesa, he alerted the police and advised APC supporters to disperse. However, as he departed for Osogbo, gunmen ambushed his convoy outside the party secretariat.
The situation remains tense as political rivalry in the state escalates, raising concerns over security and governance in Osun State.
