Ogboru’s Return to APC Sparks Division in Delta State

0

The return of Chief Great Ogboru to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has deepened divisions within the party, as opposing factions express contrasting views on his re-entry.

A group known as the Elders and Leaders of Ethiope East Local Government Area, Ogboru’s home constituency, has openly rejected his return, citing concerns over his political inconsistency and alleged domineering tendencies.

However, the APC state chapter has strongly dismissed these objections, describing them as personal and self-serving. The party reaffirmed its commitment to internal unity and progress, vowing to resist any attempts to undermine its cohesion.

Speaking on the matter, Valentine Onojeghuo, the State Publicity Secretary of APC Delta, denounced the opposition as baseless and an attempt to stir unnecessary discord. He emphasized that the party’s constitution allows any individual, including those who have previously sought political ambitions elsewhere, to rejoin the party.

“The APC remains an inclusive party with an open-door policy,” Onojeghuo stated. “No faction or individual has the authority to dictate membership terms—such decisions rest solely with the National Working Committee.”

The party further stressed that Ogboru’s political influence and experience would strengthen APC’s structure in Delta State, particularly as it prepares for future elections. It also highlighted a growing wave of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, reinforcing its expanding political presence in the state.

In a firm stance against internal opposition, the party warned that any attempts to obstruct Ogboru’s return would be considered gross misconduct, attracting severe disciplinary measures.

The APC reaffirmed that Ogboru and his supporters would be officially welcomed back into the party on March 9, 2025, and urged members to focus on unity and good governance rather than internal divisions.

As the date approaches, all party stakeholders have been invited to participate in the re-entry event, as the APC continues its drive towards a stronger, more inclusive political front in Delta State.
