Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has described the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a normal part of political processes, asserting that the party will emerge stronger from the situation.
Speaking during a condolence visit to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Sunday, following the death of Makinde’s eldest brother, Sunday Makinde, Governor Lawal emphasized that political parties often face challenges, and the current issues within PDP are no different.
He explained that the PDP has acknowledged certain mistakes and is taking steps to learn from them. Referring to the resolution made at the recent governors’ meeting in Delta State, Lawal stated that the party is making significant efforts to recover and regain the trust of the electorate.
“The ongoing crisis in the PDP is not unusual; it happens in every political party. What happened in Delta just two days ago shows that we are moving forward and working towards leading the country to a better future,” Lawal said.
The governor reiterated that the PDP’s decision to support S.K.E. Ude-Okoye as the party’s national secretary remains intact, further stressing that the governors’ collective leadership will guide the party through its challenges.
“There is nothing fundamentally wrong with the PDP. The current crisis is a part of the political landscape, and it is a learning process that will make the party stronger,” Lawal concluded.
