Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, is fast becoming the center of Nigeria’s political recalibration as top opposition figures gather for a crucial national summit ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi have already arrived in the city, setting the tone for what is expected to be a defining meeting of opposition leaders across the country.

The summit, hosted by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, brings together key political heavyweights aiming to strategize and possibly align forces ahead of the next presidential race.

Sources indicate that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and ex-Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso are also expected to join the gathering, further amplifying its significance within Nigeria’s political landscape.

Atiku, a leading contender for the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2027 elections, shared a video of his arrival via social media. The footage captured a large, enthusiastic crowd of supporters who turned out to welcome him to Ibadan, underscoring his continued grassroots appeal.

With major opposition figures converging under one roof, the summit is widely seen as a strategic move that could reshape alliances, redefine political narratives, and potentially determine the direction of the opposition bloc as Nigeria approaches another pivotal election cycle.
