Former media aide to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, Lauretta Onochie, has described former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the “incoming president” of Nigeria.
Onochie made the statement while expressing optimism that the Southeast would witness significant industrialisation and development if Atiku emerges as president.
In a post on X, the former presidential aide claimed that people from the Southeast had aligned with Atiku and were strengthening ties with political allies in the North.
She wrote: “Thank you to our people from the South East who on a daily basis, come to Abuja to strengthen their friendship and Alliance with the North.
“If you get it, like the video. If you don’t get it, think about it. Still, Igboland will be transformed and industrialised under our very own Incoming President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mazi Atiku Abubakar.”
Onochie also used the hashtags #AtikuIsComing and #excitingnews in the post.
Her comments come amid ongoing political realignments ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with Atiku emerging as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
