Afrobeats star Omah Lay has shared candid insights into the challenges of forming relationships within Nigeria’s music industry, describing the space as heavily influenced by ego.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Nando Leaks Podcast, the singer revealed that his personality naturally limits his social circle. According to him, he prefers to keep only a few close connections—people who genuinely understand his mindset and creative direction.

Omah Lay described himself as reserved, noting that while he maintains a calm demeanor, he also possesses a strong sense of self, which can make it difficult to build friendships within the industry.

He further acknowledged that ego—both his own and that of others—often creates barriers in relationships. However, the artist emphasized that he makes conscious efforts to remain humble, recognizing that excessive ego can ultimately hinder personal and professional growth.
