The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council as part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The council comprises zonal and state coordinators, alongside directors overseeing key areas including mobilisation, women affairs, strategy, security, legal affairs, information technology and administration.
The movement’s Director-General, John Ughulu, has been appointed Director-General of the campaign, while its National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, is also part of the campaign leadership.
The campaign structure covers Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, with coordinators appointed across the 36 states.
Other positions on the council include directors for grassroots mobilisation, contact and engagement, special duties, procurement, strategy and planning, security and intelligence, inter-ethnic affairs and administration.
In a congratulatory message to the newly appointed members, Sani described their appointments as a call to duty and urged them to take the message of the movement’s principals to communities across the country.
She said the council had been entrusted with the responsibility of taking the vision and aspirations of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso from major cities to grassroots communities, local governments, wards and other parts of the federation.
Sani added that the movement was focused on mobilising Nigerians around what it described as a vision for a better, more prosperous, united and functional Nigeria.
She urged members of the council to demonstrate discipline, loyalty, humility and commitment while working towards the movement’s objectives ahead of the election.
Among the zonal coordinators appointed are Suleiman Abubakar for North-Central, Hashimu Dungurawa for North-West, Amadu Gwambe for North-East, Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye for South-West, Christopher Ighodaro for South-South and El-Shaddai Ikeh for South-East.
The movement also appointed state coordinators for all 36 states and the FCT.
Other members of the council include Rev. Mike Agbon, Director of Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria; Sabo Gashua, Director of Grassroots Mobilisation; Glory Adayi, Women Affairs; Kabir Yahaya, Contact and Engagement; Abdumumini Tijjani, Mobilisation; Yusuf Mani, Special Duties; and Peace Daful, Procurement.
Prof. Charles Nwekeaku was appointed Director of South Eastern Town Hall, while Sunmisola Adebayo will oversee Information Technology.
Kingdom Okere was named Director of Legal Affairs, Abiodun Dabiri will head Strategy and Planning, Richard Enemona CSP (retd.) will oversee Security and Intelligence, while Aisha Abdulrahaman was appointed Director of Administration.
The development comes as the movement steps up activities ahead of the 2027 elections and seeks to mobilise support for the proposed joint presidential ticket involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Last month, the group reaffirmed its decision to maintain an independent organisational structure rather than merge with another political organisation ahead of the elections, while backing Ughulu as its founder and Director-General.
The unveiling of the campaign council also comes days after the movement condemned the reported disruption of Obi’s convoy during his visit to Benue State and called for an impartial investigation into the incident.
The movement said its security personnel exercised restraint during the incident to prevent the situation from escalating into violence.
