The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at its retail outlets, with stations in Abuja’s Wuse Zone 6 and Zone 4 now selling at ₦905 per litre — up from ₦890.
This represents a ₦15 hike or a 1.7 per cent increase in the price of petrol.
The President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, linked the upward adjustment to supply disruptions caused by the recent standoff between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and Dangote Refinery.
According to Maigandi, many independent marketers are still selling between ₦885 and ₦895 per litre despite the challenges.
“It is due to PENGASSAN’s strike disruption. However, members still sell at ₦885 and ₦895 per litre,” he told DAILY POST.
The two-day strike by PENGASSAN followed a dispute with Dangote Refinery over the alleged mass sacking of Nigerian workers. The federal government has since intervened, leading to the suspension of the industrial action.
