Abuja, Nigeria — Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has praised President Bola Tinubu for what he described as “unprecedented achievements” in Abuja, declaring that the capital city is now visibly “working” under the President’s leadership.
Wike made the remarks on Thursday while inspecting a series of ongoing infrastructure projects across the FCT, emphasizing that Tinubu’s administration had brought a remarkable turnaround in the capital’s development over the past two years.
“Tinubu’s achievements in the FCT are unprecedented,” Wike said. “And in the next two and four years, you’ll see what is going to happen in this country.”
According to the minister, even some of the President’s former critics now agree that Abuja has significantly improved.
“All of us who were once critical of the state of Abuja have confessed — it is now working,” Wike noted. “And who made it work? It is Mr. President.”
Wike reiterated his commitment to delivering on the mandate given to him by President Tinubu, with a focus on making Abuja a modern capital that Nigerians can take pride in.
During the inspection tour, the minister expressed satisfaction with the completion and quality of several key projects, including the Apo–Wassa Junction Road, which he confirmed has reached 100% completion. He added that the road would soon be fitted with streetlights to boost security, with a contractor’s proposal already in review.
Other projects inspected included:
The N20 Interchange, which connects Wole Soyinka Way to the Murtala Mohammed Expressway (Kubwa Expressway) — scheduled for completion and commissioning.
The access road from Obafemi Awolowo Way to the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal in Dakibiyu District, which is also nearing completion.
“Frankly speaking, the residents of Abuja deserve the best,” Wike stated. “And the contractors are doing their best. For me, I cannot give anything less.”
The minister highlighted President Tinubu’s insistence on delivering world-class infrastructure across the FCT, promising continued investment in road projects and urban development.
“You can see the infrastructure in terms of roads — it is unimaginable,” Wike said. “And we will continue to build on this.”
He also appealed to FCT residents to play their part by fulfilling civic obligations and supporting the administration’s efforts to build a better Abuja for all Nigerians.
