The Founder of Christ As of Old Ministry, Prophet Ezenwa George Ritabbi, popularly known as Prophet Ritabbi, has expressed strong views on wives using pet names for their husbands. During a live service, the preacher stated that such behavior is a sign of disrespect, emphasizing that women should address their husbands with titles that reflect honor and reverence.
Prophet Ritabbi shared a personal experience, recalling how he corrected his wife in church for calling him a pet name, hinting that this could even suggest infidelity. “Never allow your wife to call you pet names like ‘baby’ or ‘sweetheart.’ My wife won’t do that to me. In fact, I once stopped her right here during service,” he explained.
He continued, “In the Igbo language, ‘baby’ translates to ‘tata,’ and a ‘tata’ is to be treated like a child. Women, by nature, want more than one ‘tata,’ so when a wife calls you ‘baby,’ it could imply she needs more than one man. My wife calls me ‘nnam’—I am her lord, not ‘baby’ or ‘sweetheart.’ I am the overseer of her life.”
Prophet Ritabbi also commented on the dynamics between women and their superiors at work. He observed that female employees often show more respect to their managers than to their husbands. “Have you ever noticed how female bankers fear their bank managers more than their husbands? They respond with ‘yes, sir’ to their bosses. But to the man who provides for and cares for them, the same respect is often lacking,” he said.
The controversial remarks have sparked discussions on social media, with varying opinions on marital respect and gender roles.
