President Bola Tinubu has nominated Olayinka Oladunjoye, a former commissioner for education in Lagos State, to serve as the Federal Commissioner representing Lagos State in the National Population Commission (N.P.C.) ahead of the next population census.

Oladunjoye would be required to represent Lagos state interests at the Commission and to ensure that Lagosians were properly counted by authorities during the next population census.

The nomination of Oladunjoye, who was also a Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Cooperatives under Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration, was made public on Thursday when the Senate read the president’s letter requesting confirmation as a commissioner.

Oladunjoye, who has vast experience in both the public and commercial sectors, was included in the 2023 Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign team after his tenure expired.

She was the CEO and Executive Director of an insurance corporation before being named the Honorable Commissioner for Education in Lagos State during Governor Babatunde Fashola’s second term. During Governor Ambode’s administration, she served in the same capacity.

Her remarkable credentials include membership in the Chartered Insurance Institute of London (ACCI London) in 1994. In 1996, she received her Chartered Insurer designation from the Chartered Insurance Institute of London (ACCIILondon), and in 1997, she became an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN).

She has been a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (N.B.A.) since 1999, and also an Associate of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (ACIB) in 2004.
