Peter Obi Urges Swift Action Towards Zulum’s Bombshell on Boko Haram Informants

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called on the federal government to urgently respond to the alarming disclosure by Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, alleging that some politicians and military officers are aiding Boko Haram terrorists.

Governor Zulum had recently raised the alarm, accusing certain individuals within Nigeria’s political and military ranks of acting as informants and collaborators with insurgents—a revelation that has sparked national concern.

Reacting to the development, Obi described Zulum’s claim as a “damning indictment” of the country’s security architecture and leadership, warning that such allegations, if true, signal deep internal betrayal.

“It is not just shocking; it is devastating. And if true, it confirms what many Nigerians have long feared: that our country is bleeding not only from external attacks but from betrayal at the highest levels,” Obi said in a statement.

He criticized what he described as a lack of action and transparency in dealing with such threats, stating that “words are not enough; silence and inaction only serve to embolden the enemies within.”

Commending Zulum for his boldness in speaking out, Obi called for a thorough investigation and decisive action. He emphasized that Nigeria cannot afford to be held hostage by individuals charged with its protection.

“The Nigerian people demand answers and action. We must confront this reality with courage, clarity, and an unwavering commitment to reclaiming our country,” he added.

Obi’s remarks add to growing calls for accountability and a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s security strategy amidst rising insecurity nationwide.
