Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of employing anti-democratic strategies to weaken democracy and push Nigeria toward a one-party state.
In a statement he personally signed, Ologbondiyan pointed to recent events across the country as indicators of these alleged tactics.
He cited a controversial directive from the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, regarding a visa-related issue with Canada, describing the statement as “war-like” and unnecessary. He further criticized Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar for prioritizing domestic political affairs in Bauchi over diplomatic duties.
Ologbondiyan also referenced recent violence in Osun State, linking it to a supposed plot involving the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, and condemned calls for a state of emergency in the state.
Additionally, he highlighted the political unrest in the Lagos State House of Assembly, where security agents allegedly intervened in a power struggle involving the Speaker’s position.
“These actions point only in one direction – to undermine our democracy and push our nation into a one-party state,” Ologbondiyan warned.
The Tinubu administration has yet to respond to these allegations.
