In a major political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Nigeria’s North Central zone have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.

The endorsement was part of a high-level meeting held Wednesday night in Abuja, where five governors from the region joined other key party stakeholders to express support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid. The motion was moved by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, who highlighted the president’s “sterling performance” and ongoing reform efforts as justification for the endorsement.

“We, members of the APC North Central geopolitical zone… having watched with total satisfaction and admiration the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, have resolved to endorse him to run for another term,” Akume declared.

Reading the communique from the meeting, Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, praised the president’s leadership, describing it as courageous and visionary in the face of national challenges.

“We unanimously pass a vote of confidence on his administration,” Governor Sule stated. “We wholeheartedly endorse President Tinubu to contest for a second term in order to consolidate the gains of his reforms and bring them to full fruition.”

The APC leaders applauded the administration’s initiatives in infrastructure development, rural electrification, educational advancement, and agricultural investment across the North Central zone. They also hailed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as a transformative force for regional growth and national progress.

Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, emphasized the president’s responsiveness to the region’s developmental needs, citing the establishment of the North Central Development Commission and the introduction of a national forest guard policy as significant milestones.

“This is a big win for us, and we are grateful to Mr. President,” Abdulrazaq said, calling for continued support for Tinubu and the APC beyond 2027 to ensure political stability and economic continuity.

National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, expressed satisfaction with the party’s internal structure and inclusivity, revealing that all members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and state chairmen have been appointed as board heads — a move he described as evidence of unity and participation.

Other top dignitaries in attendance included Deputy Senate Leader Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru, Attorney General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi, Information Minister Mohammed Idris, and Minister of Water Resources Prof. Joseph Utsev.

Former governors, federal lawmakers, and senior party figures such as Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Tanko Al-Makura (Nasarawa), Abubakar Sani Bello (Niger), and former Deputy Speaker Ahmed Wase were also present at the gathering.

The communique was signed by key figures including SGF George Akume, Governors Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (Kwara), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Mohammed Umar Bago (Niger), and Ahmed Usman Ododo (Kogi), among others.

The endorsement marks a strategic early move by the APC in the North Central region, positioning the party and President Tinubu for a robust campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
