The announcement was made by the NIS Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) KT Udo, in a statement titled “Passport Application Portal Now Back in Optimal Service.” According to Udo, the temporary closure of the portal was necessitated by system upgrades and maintenance aimed at improving service delivery.

“The Nigeria Immigration Service has considered it exigent to inform the public that our online passport application portal is now back in optimal service, following a system upgrade and maintenance,” the statement read.

The NIS expressed regret for any inconvenience caused during the period of downtime and extended gratitude to Nigerians for their patience and understanding.

“The Service also wishes to reiterate our commitment to serving Nigerians across the globe with excellence,” Udo stated.

This development is expected to enhance the efficiency of passport application processing for Nigerians both at home and abroad.
