Keep The Environment Clean During Id-el-Kabir, LAWMA Cautions

0

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has urged locals to bag and containerize garbage produced for a clean environment as part of this year’s Id el Kabir celebrations.

In a statement released by the organization, Mr. Kunle Adebiyi, the Executive Director of Finance of LAWMA reassured the public that extensive measures had been implemented to guarantee a clean and hygienic environment throughout the celebration. He also added that PSP operators had been assigned to work tirelessly to clean up the city, maintaining a round-the-clock schedule.

He asked locals to avoid disposing of rubbish carelessly on road medians, canals, unfinished structures, or other unapproved sites and pledged that LAWMA will step up efforts to ensure that the holidays were celebrated in a clean and safe environment.

“In particular during the next Id el Kabir celebration,” Adebiyi remarked, “The LAWMA is resolved to battle unlawful garbage disposal practices that lead to environmental damage within the metropolis.

“PSP operators are required to deliver effective services, and LAWMA shall offer backup services if there are observable service gaps. Additionally, district and operational chiefs have been performing 24/7 operational tasks to assist service providers throughout the state.”

He advised residents to call the numbers or LAWMA toll-free lines, 07080601020 or 617, for waste management-related issues and stated that the Authority would publish the names and telephone numbers of management team members on national dailies who had been assigned to monitor the environment during the festive period.
