Japan Airlines and Delta Aircraft Collide in Seattle

0

A Japan Airlines plane collided with a Delta Air Lines aircraft at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Tuesday, prompting an immediate response from airport authorities.

According to a statement from the airport, the incident occurred when a taxiing Japan Airlines aircraft “appears to have struck” the tail of a parked Delta Air Lines aircraft. Passengers were safely deplaned and transported to the terminal by bus. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation. Officials noted that there was minimal impact on airport operations as the incident took place on a taxi lane.

A passenger onboard captured footage of the wing catching fire during takeoff, though further details about the damage sustained by the aircraft have not yet been disclosed.

This event comes exactly one week after a tragic midair collision near Washington, D.C., involving a passenger plane and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter, which resulted in 67 fatalities.

The collision in Seattle also follows a series of recent airline incidents in the United States. On Monday, Delta Flight 2090, carrying 158 passengers from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Orlando, was diverted to Raleigh due to a reported “odor in the cabin.” Meanwhile, on Sunday, passengers and crew aboard United Airlines Flight 1382 were evacuated at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston following a “reported engine issue,” according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Authorities are continuing their investigations into the Seattle collision and the recent aviation incidents across the country.
