The House of Representatives on Thursday passed and adopted President Bola Tinubu’s proclamation of a state of emergency in Rivers State through a voice vote, with 243 lawmakers in attendance.
Alongside endorsing the emergency rule, the House made key recommendations to address the political crisis in the state. It proposed the establishment of a national committee to facilitate peace and reconciliation in Rivers. Additionally, lawmakers recommended that the National Assembly take over legislative functions of the Rivers State House of Assembly for six months.
