Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved the payment of a 13th-month salary to civil and public servants, including retirees in the state.
The announcement was made through a circular issued on December 28, 2024, by the office of the Zamfara State Head of Service. The circular confirmed that workers would receive a bonus equivalent to 30% of their basic salary as a 13th-month salary.
Sulaiman Bala Idris, the governor’s spokesperson, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the administration’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare and promoting economic development in the state.
In addition to the 13th-month salary, the Zamfara State Government has taken significant strides to address longstanding financial obligations and enhance worker welfare. These include clearing over ₦10 billion in gratuity arrears accumulated over the past 11 years, implementing a new minimum wage of ₦70,000, and maintaining consistent and timely payment of salaries.
These measures underscore Governor Lawal’s dedication to empowering workers and fostering economic stability in Zamfara State.
