The Federal Government has announced plans to establish a youth bank aimed at offering loans, grants, and other financial products to support young entrepreneurs and drive innovation. Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande, revealed this initiative during a media session on Tuesday in Abuja.
The bank will focus on fostering economic growth through youth-led businesses and providing education, training, and employment opportunities. Olawande emphasized that the bank would play a vital role in addressing unemployment while contributing to national development.
Additionally, the ministry unveiled a Youth Activities Dashboard, a platform to showcase over 7,000 youth-related initiatives across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
In alignment with the government’s focus on inclusivity, Olawande also highlighted the student loan scheme, noting that education is essential in combating poverty, insecurity, and fostering societal growth.
The minister urged employers to embrace the new policy allowing corps members to serve in private sector organizations, including banks and oil companies, after the Federal Government lifted the ban on corps members’ postings to the private sector.
Olawande assured that the ministry continues to provide critical suggestions to President Bola Tinubu to implement key youth development strategies.
