The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday in commemoration of this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement in an official statement released on Tuesday. He commended Nigerian workers for their resilience, dedication, and sacrifices, which he described as instrumental to the nation’s socio-economic growth and development.
“There is dignity in labour. The dedication and commitment to the work we do is vital to nation-building,” Tunji-Ojo stated.
He emphasized the need for peace, innovation, and productivity as driving forces behind industrialization and sustainable economic growth. The minister further called on workers to uphold excellence in their respective fields, noting that such efforts are crucial to improving governance and ensuring that all citizens benefit from Nigeria’s vast resources.
While extending warm wishes to workers across the country, Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, pledging continued efforts to secure the lives and property of all residents and foreigners in the country.
“Keep hope alive,” he urged, assuring that the current administration remains focused on delivering its promises for a more prosperous Nigeria.
