The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to re-arraign former National Security Adviser (NSA) Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd) and former Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) General Manager Aminu Baba-Kusa today before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Also facing trial are two companies, Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Referral Hospital Limited.
The case, initially handled by Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf before his appointment as FCT Chief Judge, has been reassigned to Justice Charles Agbaza.
Dasuki and Baba-Kusa were first arraigned in 2015 on charges of money laundering and criminal breach of trust involving N13.5 billion. The prosecution later expanded the charges to a 32-count indictment, alleging the misappropriation of N33.2 billion earmarked for arms procurement to combat Boko Haram insurgents.
Meanwhile, Dasuki is also facing another case before Justice Yusuf Halilu alongside former Minister of State for Finance Bashir Yuguda, ex-Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa, his son, and their company, Dalhatu Investment Limited. That case involves allegations of misappropriating N19.4 billion in public funds.
The fresh arraignment comes after years of delays, partly due to the refusal of the Department of State Services (DSS) to release Dasuki on bail despite multiple court orders. The case is being restarted due to judicial administrative changes and workload redistribution.
