North West University, Kano has expelled 41 students and rusticated 18 others following their involvement in examination malpractices during the first semester of the 2023/2024 academic session.
The decision was made during the university’s 56th regular Senate meeting, held on December 30, 2024, after thorough reviews of recommendations from the Central Examination Misconduct Committee.
In a circular dated January 3, 2025, signed by Jafaru Sule Muhammad, Head of the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions, and Records, the university confirmed the expulsions and rustications. The circular highlighted that the students found guilty had violated the institution’s stringent examination policies.
Additionally, 42 students received written warnings for their involvement in the misconduct, while two students were exonerated of all charges. The students affected by these disciplinary actions are from various faculties, including Basic Medical Science, Science, Computing, Education, Social and Management Sciences, and Humanities.
The university has underscored its commitment to maintaining academic integrity and upholding strict standards to ensure a fair and credible examination process.
