Momodu Warns Adeleke: Tinubu, APC May Use Osun Election to Test-Run 2027 Plans

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has warned Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, against expecting a free, fair and credible governorship election, alleging that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) may use the poll as a test run for the 2027 presidential election.

Momodu issued the warning in a post on X ahead of the Osun governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

According to him, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) cannot be expected to conduct a credible election because, he alleged, the electoral body is under the influence of President Tinubu.

Addressing Adeleke, Momodu wrote: “Let no one deceive you that INEC, under the complete control of President Bola Tinubu will organize a free, fair and credible election in Osun State next week, August 15, 2026.

“The ruling APC government is determined to use your election as the dress rehearsal for their nefarious preparation for the Presidential election in January 2027.”

Momodu further alleged that APC members in Osun State had been instructed to do whatever was necessary to secure victory for the party.

He claimed that some of his contacts within the APC had warned him to prepare for “any eventuality,” alleging that the party’s “foot-soldiers” had been directed to “grab Osun by any means necessary.”

Despite his concerns, Momodu urged Adeleke to remain steadfast and rely on his faith, while commending the governor for what he described as his achievements in office.

“Please, hold on tightly to God as you’ve always been. We are proud of the uncommon work you’ve done, and doing. Let them campaign with the work they did in the past. Little or nothing to show. You are loved,” he added.

Momodu concluded by saying, “The full story will be told at the appropriate time.”

His allegations come ahead of the closely watched Osun governorship election, which is expected to be a major political test for both the ruling APC and opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
