The Lagos State Task Force has dismissed circulating reports alleging that its operatives are stationed around the Sheraton Link Bridge toward Opebi and along Toyin Street to arrest motorists making turns in those areas, describing the claims as false and misleading.
The rumour, reportedly spread by an unidentified individual, advised drivers to avoid the locations, claiming that officials were lying in wait to apprehend traffic violators.
In a swift response, the agency’s Director of Public Affairs, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, refuted the allegation, stressing that the Task Force is not currently engaged in traffic enforcement operations.
He explained that enforcement of traffic-related offences had been suspended in compliance with a directive issued by the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, on April 1, 2026.
According to Abdulraheem, the agency’s recent activities have been strictly limited to environmental enforcement and the apprehension of suspected miscreants across the state.
He urged residents and motorists to disregard the misinformation, reaffirming the Task Force’s commitment to lawful operations and sustained efforts to maintain public order.
Abdulraheem also issued a warning against impersonation, noting that individuals engaging in unauthorised enforcement actions would be identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
