The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ajibola Basiru, has reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to delivering on the promises made to Nigerians, stating that the President is working tirelessly to reposition the country despite prevailing economic and security challenges.

Basiru made the remarks on Friday while addressing journalists after observing the two raka’ah Eid-el-Kabir prayer at the Freedom Park Prayer Ground in Osogbo, Osun State.

According to him, the significance of Eid-el-Kabir reflects the spirit of sacrifice, obedience, and fulfilment of covenant, drawing parallels between Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail, and President Tinubu’s resolve to fulfil his commitments to Nigerians.

He noted that the administration remains focused on addressing critical national issues, including economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and access to education for underprivileged children.

“We urge Nigerians to continue to support the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. As the President recently acknowledged, these are challenging times, but he is doing everything within his capacity to ensure that the economy improves, security challenges are tackled, youths are gainfully employed, and children of the poor have access to education,” Basiru said.

He further appealed to Nigerians to continue praying for the success and stability of the country, stressing that national unity and collective support are essential for progress.

Speaking on the internal disputes arising from the APC primary elections conducted across the country, the APC National Secretary expressed confidence in the party’s conflict resolution mechanisms.

Basiru stated that the ruling party has established peaceful channels for resolving grievances before and after primary elections, adding that party leaders must ensure fairness, equity, and inclusiveness in the political process.

“There is always a peaceful resolution mechanism within the party, both before and after primary elections. We believe the APC will put adequate measures in place to ensure that all disputes are amicably resolved,” he said.

He also urged victorious candidates to embrace reconciliation by carrying along aspirants who were unsuccessful in the primaries in order to strengthen party unity ahead of future elections.

“The leaders must create a level playing ground for people to practise politics with equity, justice, and fairness,” Basiru added.
